Fall 2009 (3 units)

Modeling within Geographic Information Systems



From the Syllabus:
Product:  The product of this exercise will include a submission of: 
   
 
1)  A White Paper which includes a clear and formal definition of your client’s problem ( 5-10  pages in length and delivered on a cd-rom ).
  2)  A computerized database embedded in a GIS system (delivered on a cd-rom).
3)  A poster with at least three computer-generated maps (the poster being at least 36” by 48”) plotting the synthesis of a data query and modeling in your study area (this poster to include text explaining the study and delivered on a cd-rom).
4)  A written report discussing the design, construction and implementation phase of your project (this submission to be in chapter form for a final publication).

 N Each team (or individual - depending on the research focus) will be expected to submit a hard copy of all of the above.
 N The database itself should be backed up in a format that is easily transfered to a computer (insure the paths to any .mxd files are "relative" in nature) on CD-ROM or DVD depending on your data volume.
 N These submissions will not be returned.
